As a fellow mom to a disabled and medically complex daughter, I am on a similar journey and have walked the same road as you. My passion is to take all of the information and wealth of knowledge I have gathered over this time to support your family. Our family has had access to life changing services, therapies, and financial support that have enriched our lives. My desire is to help families do the same! I hope to increase quality time spent with your family and decrease the stress and anxiety around the logistics of taking care of and supporting your child.

My hope through this work is to illuminate the worth and dignity of people with disabilities as made in the Image of God with great purpose.

As parents of children with disabilities, we’re not asking for special treatment. We’re advocating for the necessary supports and accommodations that allow our children to live joyful, meaningful lives—just like any other child deserves. Sometimes achieving this requires a lot of time and money, but the need it is meeting is the same. Sometimes there are barriers in society from allowing our families to live life to the fullest. The bike you want to give your child for Christmas is not a simple trip to the store. Instead, you have to complete a multi-step process of working with therapists, insurance, grants, and other providers to find a bicycle/tricycle and fund it. The park isn’t a convenient, fun outing for your family. You can’t just walk to the park in your neighborhood because the only truly accessible playground is a 30 minute drive away. Wood chips and inaccessible play structures are found almost everywhere else. The family vacation you have dreamed of is no longer feasible because the accommodations everywhere are inaccessible. The strain financially on extra costs limits these opportunities even further. The neighborhood school you always planned to send your children to doesn’t have the supports and staff needed to keep your child safe and provide necessary services. Your child has to be bused to a different school away from their siblings and community. Maybe you opt for private school or homeschooling, which adds to the financial burden. The cute two-piece pajamas don’t keep your child safe at night, and you have to find “special needs” pajamas that are more expensive and only come in solid, boring colors. The grocery store doesn’t have an accessible cart, and you can’t push a wheelchair and a grocery cart at the same time. The birthday party is at the trampoline park, and the sensory overload makes it no longer enjoyable. The musical or play you want to see doesn’t have accommodations for hearing, and you want to enjoy the outing as an entire family. We live in a world that was not made for families like ours. It is felt in small and large ways every day, creating a divide between our lives and the normalcy others experience.

Why is it called “Beautiful and Brave Advocacy”? ❤️💪 “Beautiful and Brave” originated when Everly was only a few days old in the NICU. The most wonderful nurses cared for her and adorned her isolette with artwork that said “Beautiful and Brave”. No two words could describe our sweet girl better with all that she has gracefully endured in her short life. Here is a small glimpse into her first couple of days in the NICU. If this provision is found to be illegal or unenforceable, then neither Party will elect to arbitrate any Dispute falling within that portion of this provision found to be illegal or unenforceable and such Dispute shall be decided by a court of competent jurisdiction within the courts listed for jurisdiction above, and the Parties agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of that court.

Restrictions

The Parties agree that any arbitration shall be limited to the Dispute between the Parties individually. To the full extent permitted by law, (a) no arbitration shall be joined with any other proceeding; (b) there is no right or authority for any Dispute to be arbitrated on a class-action basis or to utilize class action procedures; and (c) there is no right or authority for any Dispute to be brought in a purported representative capacity on behalf of the general public or any other persons.

Exceptions to Informal Negotiations and Arbitration

The Parties agree that the following Disputes are not subject to the above provisions concerning informal negotiations binding arbitration: (a) any Disputes seeking to enforce or protect, or concerning the validity of, any of the intellectual property rights of a Party; (b) any Dispute related to, or arising from, allegations of theft, piracy, invasion of privacy, or unauthorized use; and (c) any claim for injunctive relief. If this provision is found to be illegal or unenforceable, then neither Party will elect to arbitrate any Dispute falling within that portion of this provision found to be illegal or unenforceable and such Dispute shall be decided by a court of competent jurisdiction within the courts listed for jurisdiction above, and the Parties agree to submit to the personal jurisdiction of that court.
